Systems Approach

Scotland already has strong policy ambition. The national vision is clear: more people, more active, more often. Scotland’s Physical Activity for Health Framework recognises that progress requires a whole-system approach across education, transport, planning, health, sport, communities and public communication.

One of the Framework’s eight strategic outcomes is Active Communications: consistent, evidence-based public education and messaging that helps shift awareness, confidence, motivation, attitudes and social norms.

Yet Scotland does not currently have a dedicated national body focused on communicating, advocating and mobilising evidence around children’s movement behaviours. That is the gap Scotland Moves will fill.

We will become Scotland’s trusted voice on children’s movement: translating evidence, amplifying children’s voices, supporting partners, informing policy, and helping the public understand why movement matters from the earliest years of life.
